You can add keyboards from the Regional settings option. If I change to using the UK keyboard, all languages get back their handwriting input.
So, with the keyboard set to UK Extended I cannot use handwriting input, even if the language of the machine is set to US English or French. All this is made more confusing because you use the Regional settings to change keyboard options, but the Type settings to train the handwriting. Keyboard, for which there is no handwriting touch keyboard, but for the standard UK keyboard there is one.
Unfortunately, not all keyboards have an associated handwriting keyboard.

It appears that the handwriting software is linked to the language selected, but the handwriting input is linked to the actual keyboard being used. Since the fall 2017 feature upgrade I have had a similar problem.

To manually fix this issue the following must be done. There is a way to manually fix this issue, but normally this should be automatically downloaded though Windows updates (so you have a possible issue there). Anyone know why this is the case and a possible solution? Thanks

Since upgrading to Windows 10 the stylus option is greyed out on the onscreen keyboard (split and full keyboard options still available). I found my preferred method for text entry for all requirements was selecting the handwriting mode on the on screen keyboard and using the stylus. When I bought my Sony Vaio hybrid, it came with a stylus that was excellent for handwriting recognition.
